The Great Global Nurdle Hunt 2025
The Great Global Nurdle Hunt 2025 - Take Part!
We are very excited to announce the return of The Great Global Nurdle Hunt for 2025! This year's hunt will take place across the world between the 1st - 31st October 2025.
The Great Global Nurdle Hunt is our annual citizen science event, which asks organisations, communities and individuals to organise nurdle hunts all around the world to draw attention to this issue and collect a snapshot of data on global plastic pellet pollution.
The crucial data gathered by nurdle hunters helps highlight the scale of the problem to decision makers worldwide and strengthens calls for action to tackle this significant source of global microplastic pollution.
Participating is easy, no special equipment is needed, and anyone can join! Here is how you take part:
- Look for nurdles at your local beach, river, or lake on any day in October.
- Record your findings (even if you find no nurdles , your data still helps!)
- Upload your data to our global nurdle pollution map.
- Spread the word by sharing your hunt on social media and encourage others to get involved.

Since Fidra launched the Great Nurdle Hunt in 2013, over 20,000 dedicated volunteers have completed over 7,000 verified hunts around the world, collecting vital data, photos and stories from communities impacted. The millions of nurdles found from Hawaii to Iceland shows the scale of the nurdle pollution problem and is a collective call for more action from industry and policy makers.
